Minoxidil 7% / tretinoin 0.025% / fluocinolone 0.025% / finasteride 0.2%
Compounded medications are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies. Prescription only — available if a licensed provider determines treatment is appropriate after your online visit. Not available in all states.

Minoxidil at 7% delivers a stronger once-daily growth stimulus than over-the-counter 5%, widening the vessels that feed follicles and lengthening the growth phase. Finasteride 0.2% lowers DHT at the scalp so follicles stop miniaturizing, with less systemic exposure than the oral tablet. Tretinoin increases skin turnover so more minoxidil reaches the follicle, and fluocinolone, a mild corticosteroid, offsets the irritation that higher-strength formulas can cause.
Topical minoxidil 2% and 5% are FDA-approved; the 7% strength, topical finasteride and the combination are compounded and used off-label. Compounded products are not FDA-approved.
Apply 1 mL (the prescribed number of sprays) once daily to dry scalp where hair is thinning, spread gently, then wash your hands. Let it dry before styling or lying down and keep it off the forehead. One 60 mL bottle lasts 60 days. Give it three to six months of daily use before judging results, and continue to maintain them. If you're new to minoxidil, your provider may start you on Boost or Scalp+ and step you up.
Max Spray is for men with established male pattern hair loss who want the most active ingredients in one topical, and for men or women who have plateaued on a 5% minoxidil spray. Women are prescribed it only after acknowledging pregnancy precautions; women of any age can use finasteride-free Sensitive Spray instead.
It is not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Scarring alopecia, alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia and hair loss from an active scalp infection need in-person evaluation.
Month 1. Daily use begins. Some tingling or dryness is possible as your scalp adjusts to the higher strength; fluocinolone helps keep it comfortable.
Month 2. Minoxidil may push resting hairs out ahead of new growth, so shedding can briefly increase. It's temporary.
Months 3–4. Shedding slows and fine new hairs appear at the hairline, crown or part.
Months 6–12. Visible thickening for most by six months, continuing through the first year with daily use. Results depend on continued use.

Max Spray is our highest-strength combination: minoxidil 7% for growth, topical finasteride 0.2% to lower scalp DHT, tretinoin to improve absorption and fluocinolone to keep the scalp comfortable. Each 60 mL bottle is a 60-day supply, which brings the cost to about $99 a month.
Men with established thinning who want the most active ingredients in one topical, and men or women who have plateaued on a 5% spray. Women need to complete the pregnancy acknowledgment because of the finasteride. If you're new to minoxidil, your provider may suggest starting with Boost or Scalp+ and stepping up.
Most people notice less shedding by month three and early regrowth between months three and six, with continued thickening through the first year of consistent daily use. Six months is the first fair checkpoint, and photos taken in the same light every month are the best way to track progress. Results depend on continued use: if you stop, hair loss gradually returns.
It can. Minoxidil pushes resting hairs out to make room for new growth, so shedding may briefly increase around weeks two to eight. It's temporary and a normal sign the treatment is working. Contact your provider if shedding is severe or continues past month three.
No labs are required. You complete an online assessment, upload a photo ID and a few scalp photos, and a licensed U.S. provider reviews everything. Follow-ups are included, and your provider can switch you to a different formula if your scalp doesn't tolerate the first one.
Oral options (Core Tab, Daily Strip) are a once-daily tablet or strip and act throughout the body. Topical sprays are applied to the scalp, which limits how much medication enters the bloodstream, a common reason people choose them, but they require a daily application routine and can irritate sensitive skin. Many patients combine an oral and a topical; your provider will recommend a plan that matches your pattern of loss.
Hair thinning was reported in the Wegovy® trials (about 3% vs 1% on placebo) and the Zepbound® trials (4–5% vs 1%), more often in women. It's generally linked to rapid weight loss rather than the drug itself, usually starts a few months into treatment and often improves as weight stabilizes. Minoxidil-based treatments can speed recovery, and a finasteride-free spray is appropriate for women of any age.
Topical finasteride products are prescribed to women only after acknowledging pregnancy precautions. Finasteride can cause birth defects, so women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning a pregnancy or not using reliable contraception should not use or handle these sprays. Women of any age can start with Sensitive Spray, our finasteride-free formula.
Scarring alopecia, alopecia areata, frontal fibrosing alopecia and hair loss from an active scalp infection need in-person evaluation. If your photos or history suggest one of these, your provider will tell you, point you to the right kind of care, and you won't be charged.
Part dry or towel-dried hair and apply the prescribed number of sprays directly to the thinning areas of the scalp, spreading it gently with a fingertip. Wash your hands afterward, and let it dry completely before styling or lying down. One 30 mL bottle is a 30-day supply at the standard once-daily dose; a 60 mL bottle lasts 60 days.
If a GobyMeds provider decides a prescription isn't appropriate for you, you receive a 100% refund of the medication price (lab fees, where they apply, are not refunded). Once your order has been sent to our medical partners or to the pharmacy for fulfillment we will do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations, but we can't guarantee them, and in some cases an adjustment or cancellation carries a $50 medical consultation fee.
Because of regulations covering prescription medication, we are unable to accept returned medication for a refund.
No insurance is needed and GobyMeds does not bill insurance. The price you see is the price you pay, with provider consultation and shipping included and no membership fee.
HSA and FSA cards are accepted at checkout, and we can provide a letter of medical necessity if your plan administrator asks for one.
You answer a short health questionnaire and upload a photo ID. A licensed U.S. provider reviews your history, confirms the treatment is appropriate, and writes the prescription. There is no video call to schedule unless your provider or your state requires one, and follow-up messaging with your care team is included with every plan.
If you're not a candidate, you'll be told why and refunded in full.
Highest strength, full stack: minoxidil 7%, finasteride 0.2%, tretinoin, and fluocinolone topical spray (60 mL).
Start your online visitMinoxidil may cause scalp irritation, itching, dryness, temporary increased shedding, unwanted facial or body hair and, rarely, changes in blood pressure or heart rate; the 7% strength can increase these effects. Tretinoin can cause dryness or redness and raises sun sensitivity. Fluocinolone is a mild steroid and prolonged use on one area can thin skin, so use only the prescribed amount. Topical finasteride can produce the same effects reported with the oral tablet in some people: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, breast tenderness or mood changes.
Finasteride can cause birth defects; women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must not take, handle or be exposed to finasteride, including topical products. The FDA has noted reports of the same side effects seen with oral finasteride in some people using compounded topical products.
Do not use Max Spray if you are pregnant, may become pregnant or are breastfeeding, or if you've reacted to minoxidil, finasteride, tretinoin or corticosteroids. Do not apply to broken, infected or sunburned skin. Tell your provider about heart disease, low blood pressure or other steroid or retinoid products you use. Compounded drug products are not approved or evaluated for safety, effectiveness or quality by the FDA. Prescription only; not available in all states.
