How it works

Testosterone applied to the skin is absorbed through the outer layers and released steadily into the bloodstream over the day, so levels stay in a consistent range without weekly peaks and troughs. The hypospray uses a fast-drying, metered formulation: each pump delivers a fixed dose, the carrier evaporates within seconds, and the testosterone forms a reservoir in the skin that releases over the next 24 hours.

Compared with gels and creams, there is nothing to rub in and less risk of transferring medication to a partner or child. Transdermal testosterone is an established FDA-approved route; this compounded spray formulation is prepared by a licensed U.S. pharmacy and is not itself FDA-approved.

Dosing & Titration

Your provider prescribes a starting dose of 20–40 mg daily, typically one to two pumps applied each morning to clean, dry skin on the inner arm or shoulder. Let it dry (seconds), wash your hands and avoid skin-to-skin contact at the site for a couple of hours.

Because absorption through skin varies between people, your 90-day labs are drawn a few hours after application and your dose is adjusted from the result. Each 3-month plan covers 90 days of daily use.

Key benefits

  • Needle-free testosterone replacement with no injections
  • Dries in seconds with no residue, unlike traditional gels and creams
  • Steady daily levels without weekly peaks and valleys
  • Metered pump for a precise, repeatable dose
  • Lab-verified before you start and monitored every 90 days

Who it's for

Testosterone Hypospray is for men 35 and older with lab-confirmed low testosterone and symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, loss of muscle or brain fog, who want direct replacement without needles and are comfortable with a daily routine and ongoing lab monitoring. It suits men who travel, dislike injections or want the lowest-mess topical option.

Men who need higher doses may do better with the cream or weekly injections, and men under 35 or those keeping fertility in the picture are usually better served by Enclomiphene. Your provider recommends a path after reviewing your labs.

For men

What to expect, month by month

Weeks 1–4. Levels rise into the healthy range. Many men notice better energy, mood, motivation and libido within the first few weeks as the fog of low testosterone lifts.

Months 2–3. Sleep deepens, recovery after exercise improves and body composition starts to shift as insulin sensitivity improves. Your first follow-up labs at 90 days confirm your dose.

Months 3–6. Strength and lean muscle gains compound with training, and benefits stabilize as levels stay steady. Your provider fine-tunes the dose based on labs and how you feel.

Ongoing. Testosterone therapy is maintenance treatment: benefits continue with consistent use and quarterly labs, and taper off if treatment stops.

Frequently asked questions

Answers from the GobyMeds care team. Still have a question? Your provider can answer it during your online visit.

How do I use the hypospray?

Apply the prescribed number of pumps to clean, dry skin on the inner arm or shoulder once each morning. The spray dries within seconds, so you can dress right away; wash your hands afterward and avoid skin-to-skin contact with others at the application site for a couple of hours.

Hypospray or cream: what's the difference?

Both are daily transdermal testosterone and both avoid needles. The hypospray is metered and dries in seconds, so there's no residue and less chance of transferring medication to a partner or child. The cream is a higher-dose option (25–100 mg daily) for men who need more than the spray delivers. Your provider will match the form to your lab results.

What is TRT and how do I know if I need it?

Testosterone replacement therapy restores testosterone to a healthy range in men whose levels are low and who have symptoms such as persistent fatigue, low libido, loss of muscle, brain fog, low mood or poor sleep and recovery. GobyMeds confirms low testosterone with a blood test before any prescription is written, and your provider reviews both your labs and your symptoms.

How much does the required lab work cost?

A comprehensive panel is required before starting and every 90 days while you're on treatment. We charge a flat $115 per lab session, which covers the blood draw at a lab near you and your provider's review, about $38 a month. Labs are the only cost outside your plan price; there are no membership or hidden fees.

Will treatment affect my fertility?

Testosterone replacement (injections, hypospray and cream) suppresses the signals that drive sperm production, so it can reduce fertility while you're on it and is not recommended if you may want children soon. Enclomiphene works differently: it raises your own testosterone by stimulating those signals, which is why it's the usual choice for younger men and those keeping fertility in the picture. Talk this through with your provider before choosing a path.

Will I have a provider following my treatment?

Yes. A team of licensed U.S. providers reviews your initial labs, writes your protocol, checks your follow-up labs every three months and is available by message between visits. Dose changes are made based on your levels and how you feel, not a fixed schedule.

What's the difference between Testosterone Support (enclomiphene) and TRT?

Testosterone Support uses enclomiphene, a once-daily capsule that prompts your pituitary to signal your testes to make more testosterone, so your natural production is preserved. TRT delivers testosterone directly as an injection, spray or cream and is built for men 35 and older whose production is unlikely to recover. A licensed provider reviews your labs and helps you choose.

What are the side effects of testosterone therapy?

Common effects include acne or oily skin, fluid retention, mood changes, reduced sperm count and testicular shrinkage, and a rise in red blood cell count or blood pressure. Testosterone can worsen sleep apnea and may stimulate an existing prostate cancer, which is why PSA and hematocrit are checked at every lab session. Topical forms can transfer to others through skin contact, so wash your hands and cover the area. Tell your provider right away about chest pain, shortness of breath, leg swelling or a severe headache.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

If a GobyMeds provider decides a prescription isn't appropriate for you, you receive a 100% refund of the medication price (lab fees, where they apply, are not refunded). Once your order has been sent to our medical partners or to the pharmacy for fulfillment we will do our best to accommodate changes or cancellations, but we can't guarantee them, and in some cases an adjustment or cancellation carries a $50 medical consultation fee.

Because of regulations covering prescription medication, we are unable to accept returned medication for a refund.

Do I need insurance, and can I use my HSA or FSA?

No insurance is needed and GobyMeds does not bill insurance. The price you see is the price you pay, with provider consultation and shipping included and no membership fee.

HSA and FSA cards are accepted at checkout, and we can provide a letter of medical necessity if your plan administrator asks for one.

How does the online visit work?

You answer a short health questionnaire and upload a photo ID. A licensed U.S. provider reviews your history, confirms the treatment is appropriate, and writes the prescription. There is no video call to schedule unless your provider or your state requires one, and follow-up messaging with your care team is included with every plan.

If you're not a candidate, you'll be told why and refunded in full.

Important safety information

Side effects and precautions

Common effects of testosterone therapy include acne or oily skin, fluid retention, mood changes, breast tenderness, reduced sperm count and testicular shrinkage, and a rise in red blood cell count (hematocrit) or blood pressure. Testosterone can worsen sleep apnea, may stimulate an existing prostate cancer and can raise PSA, which is why hematocrit, PSA, estradiol and lipids are checked at every 90-day lab session. Seek care right away for chest pain, shortness of breath, one-sided leg swelling, slurred speech or a sudden severe headache. Report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Topical-specific effects include mild skin irritation or redness at the application site. Testosterone can transfer to others through skin contact: wash your hands after applying, let the site dry and keep it covered or washed before close contact with women or children.

Who should not use it

Testosterone is not prescribed to men with known or suspected prostate or breast cancer, to anyone who is trying to conceive, or to women. Tell your provider about heart disease, a history of blood clots or stroke, untreated sleep apnea, high red blood cell count, severe urinary symptoms from an enlarged prostate, liver or kidney disease and all medications you take, including blood thinners and insulin. Prescription only; available only when a licensed provider determines it is appropriate after reviewing your labs. Not available in all states. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. Compounded drug products are not approved or evaluated for safety, effectiveness or quality by the FDA. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance.
